Mission Support — Helping Lakeside AMBUCS Inspire Mobility & Independence

Lakeside AMBUCS exists to serve our neighbors with disabilities by fulfilling the broader mission of National AMBUCS: inspiring people to conquer challenges related to mobility and independence. Through our locally led service projects, fundraising initiatives, and volunteer efforts, we bring hope, freedom, and life‑changing experiences to individuals who might otherwise never have the opportunity to enjoy the simple joy of riding a bike or participating in community life. Our chapter works “shoulder‑to‑shoulder” with physical, occupational, and speech therapists to identify riders who would benefit from an AmTryke™ adaptive tricycle, and then helps make that possible through fundraising, assessment events, and customized fittings.

The heart of our work is the AmTryke™ Adaptive Tricycle Program, one of the most impactful ways AMBUCS chapters across the country create lasting change. Adaptive tricycles provide therapeutic, recreational, and psychosocial benefits — improving strength, coordination, endurance, confidence, and social engagement for children, adults, veterans, and people of all abilities who are unable to ride a traditional bicycle. But because insurance rarely covers adaptive cycles and many families cannot afford them on their own, Lakeside AMBUCS steps in to fill the gap through community support and generosity.

Why Your Support Matters

With your help, Lakeside AMBUCS can:

  • Sponsor customized AmTrykes™ for individuals on our waiting list who need tailored adaptive equipment to thrive.

  • Host Tryke Evaluation & Giveaway Days, where riders are assessed by therapists and matched with the right model and accessories.

  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance resources, ensuring that riders continue enjoying their AmTrykes safely and confidently.

  • Partner with schools, clinics, and rehabilitation professionals to expand awareness and identify more potential riders in need.

Every dollar raised translates directly into mobility, inclusion, and empowerment — often touching entire families and communities.

  • Community Partner Grants — Collaborate with local foundations or civic groups to fund specific initiatives like Tryke Evaluation Days, adaptive sports outings, or therapist training scholarships.

  • In‑Kind Support — Donate goods or services such as event space, printing, hospitality, or volunteer time that help reduce our operational costs and enhance chapter programming.
